General

Box Office

Description: Help run the box office at Whatabout Theatre events. Check in ticket holders, sell new tickets, and share information about the show and the venue to audience members.

Requirements: Cell phone with internet capability (to connect with payment processor), Cashier experience, Attention to detail, Customer Service.

Jam Hosts

Description: Help us host Whatabout Theatre Improv Jams! Host the show, select performers and games from participants who've signed up, explain the games, edit them, and create a safe and welcoming environment!

Requirements: Improv performance experience, hosting experience, teaching experience preferred. Selected Jam hosts will be expected to attend a one-on-one meeting with a Whatabout Theatre team member and one Jam for training prior to hosting.

Event Tech Support

Description: Help make Whatabout Theatre shows the highest possible quality! Volunteer to run lights, sound, or manage front of house. This could include pressing buttons, pulling up music or other sounds, ensuring the vibe is right, rounding up improvisers, and making sure the event is running on time.

Requirements: Previous tech or stage management experience preferred. Volunteers should be confident, able to manage people, and have great time management and attention to detail. Volunteers will be provided with training documents and will be expected to attend at least one event for training prior to their first solo shift.

Social Media Team

Description: Help keep Whatabout Theatre present online! Develop social media content for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Create graphics on Canva, write social media copy, and schedule posts.

Requirements: Familiarity with Canva and social media marketing strategies. Excellent time management and attention to detail. Volunteers will be provided with Whatabout Theatre branding and messaging guides and have regular meetings with Whatabout Theatre team members to ensure that all messages are being sent out on time and appropriately.

Photos & Video Recording

Description: Come to Whatabout Theatre events and document them! Help record sets and take photos.

Requirements: Some photography/videography experience preferred. Phone or camera to take photos. Whatabout Theatre will provide video recording equipment.

Show Hosts

Description: Host Whatabout Theatre shows! Introduce the performers, share important messages from Whatabout Theatre to the audience, and keep the energy high!

Requirements: Hosting and performing experience required. Hosts will be expected to have a one-on-one training meeting and/or attend an event for training prior to hosting for the first time.

Street Team

Description: Put up Whatabout Theatre posters and flyers around Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and the surrounding areas.

Requirements: Whatabout Theatre will provide the posters/flyers and some tape. You'll need transportation around common areas and time to put up the posters/flyers and talk to local businesses. Communication and networking skills required!

Concessions

Description: Help manage the concessions table at Whatabout Theatre events.

Set Up & Strike Crew

Description: Help us set up our events - clean up, put out tables, chairs, signage, and more. Then, after the show, help us put everything back cleaner than we found it!
